"Titania and Mars" was inspired by the Victorian obsession with death, particularly "memento mori" ~ death photographs. Deceased people were posed in portraits as if still living.
Was the raven skeleton a former bosom friend, or did she eat him? ;)
The original painting was done entirely in black & white acrylic paint ~ Titanium White and Mars Black, to be exact. Hence, I named this pair of unlikely friends, "Titania and Mars".
